New Zealand Cap. Black cap with silver braid and embroidered bullion 'silver fern' and 'NZ'. With bullion tassel. No dates . Cap bears the maker's label "Wallace & Gibson/ The Kash/ Willis Str/ Wellington" In excellent condition.

Awarded to Charles Theodore Gillespie MC. One match for New Zealand - 1913 Test against Australia. On his Wellington cap 'NZ' is noted above '1913'.

He served at Gallipoli in 1915 as a farrier-sergeant. He rose to the rank of lieutenant and was gassed and wounded at Passchendaele in 1917 and he was awarded the Military Cross. He is one of just seven All Blacks to receive a Military Cross. He played this one Test against Australia in 1913.
